Early Evening Thunderheads on the White River Delta

Taking pictures of the White River Delta from the Fishing Bridge apparently has become a project. Although, I almost missed entirely this colorful display. In the five to seven minutes it took me to hustle down to the bridge the sun had set below the horizon and cut off the golden reflection from the dominant cloud at right center. Even five minutes too late, this is still an inspirational panorama.

Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum

The Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum on the campus of Michigan State University. Completed in 2012 (grand opening November 10).

It was designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Zaha Hadid.

While I like the unique shape, stainless steel and glass walls, its avant-garde design seems out of place sitting in the mix of old school, gothic inspired architecture that dominates the rest of the campus.

The entrance, on the south side of Grand River Avenue, accentuates the angular stainless and glass structure.  The building could be a model for a mechanical steel dragon in a new release of the movie "Transformers."

Pictured to the right is part of the current exhibit titled "Pattern: Follow the Rules," which will be displayed until August 11, 2013.

New Treatment – Old Barn

My friend David's barn. High contrast added selectively, blur added selectively all color dropped out and an overall brown tone added, or "bronze tone" as it was called when I began my photography career.

We're Hiding; You Can't See Us

About 6:30 this morning, we discovered a pair of baby racoons hiding in a corner of Mike and Patty's front porch. Clearly, they were frightened, thinking – hoping – that if they couldn't see us, we couldn't see them. There was a mad scramble to be the bottom, most invisible, most tucked-in-the-corner racoon.

They stayed in the corner all day, by early evening they were becoming a little more curious, probably hungry, thirsty, maybe a bit desperate. When I approached with the camera, the more adventurous of the two turned as if to say, "What chu lookin' at, Punk?

We decided to leave them alone and around 9:00 P.M, when it was getting dark, they wandered off.

Thus ends an interesting day at the place already known as "Racoon Ranch."

Another Spectacular Sunrise

A spectacular sunrise over the White River delta Friday morning.
